Hi there, I’m Anne.
Welcome!
Since you’re here, you’re probably caring for your mom or dad with dementia. I know it’s hard – really hard. It’s taking a toll on you physically, psychologically, emotionally, and financially. It’s pretty much the most stressful thing you’ve ever done. But you’re giving it your all while also juggling all of your other responsibilities – kids, husband, work, life. It’s exhausting!
Honey, I’m right there with you. I’ve been caring for my mom with Alzheimer’s for the last four years, and I’m watching her disappear a little more each day.
I know what it’s like to struggle to find things to keep her busy. To find time for her daily care with all of life’s other obligations. To spend one day feeling her love and kindness and then the next being the object of her anger and suspicions. To be faced with the financial responsibility of providing her care.
I know how it feels to be overwhelmed and just want to give up.
But I’m learning to cope.
I’m finding ways to keep mom happy, calm, and engaged. I’m discovering ways to help her keep bits of independence as long as possible. I’m educating myself on how to change my behavior to manage her hostility and distrustfulness. I’m establishing a financial plan for her care. I’m tackling the overwhelm and increasing my own productivity.
It’s a work in progress, for sure, but I’m finding my efforts are paying off and making me a better caregiver, wife, and mom. I’m determined to stay on top of this and take back my life. I’m doing this. And I know you can, too.
Let’s connect!
I’d really love to hear from you! Hop over to the Contact page and send me a note. Let me know where you are in your caregiver journey. I find it helps so much to connect with others walking this difficult path and share our wins, struggles, and the occasional hilarious event that inevitably comes with caregiving. Because sometimes finding some humor in a difficult situation helps us keep our sanity. I can’t wait to hear from you.
