Inspired by My Mom’s Love for Coloring

I created these bookmarks with my mom in mind when she was in the mid-stages of Alzheimer’s. She truly enjoyed coloring, but only if the finished product looked good to her—otherwise, it became frustrating. The intricate designs and tiny details in many adult coloring books weren’t an option anymore, so I turned to simple adult designs I knew she would love. These bookmarks were designed to offer a sense of accomplishment.

Holiday-themed activities like this provided great conversation starters. We would reminisce about past Valentine’s Day celebrations, whether it was a party or a special lunch with just us.
