FOR THIS RECIPE, YOU WILL NEED

  • 48 small pretzel twists
  • 7 oz white melting wafers
  • XO Sprinkle Mix
  • baking sheet or tray
  • parchment paper
  • piping bag
  • scissors

Easy Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange pretzels in a single layer.

2. Add the melting wafers to a piping bag, and heat in the microwave for 20-second intervals, massaging the bag with your hands in between each heating session, until fully melted.

3. Snip off the tip of the bag with scissors, and pipe white chocolate into just the center of each mini pretzel twist to make the “heart”. It’s okay if this gets messy! It’s just more chocolate for the sprinkles to stick to.

4. Top with sprinkles.

5. Transfer the baking sheet to the freezer for 20 minutes (or refrigerate for 60 minutes) to set.

Once the candy melts have set, it’s time to enjoy! These Valentine’s Day Pretzel Hearts aren’t just a fun activity—they’re a sweet way for our people living with dementia to be part of the celebration. A great extension of this activity is to wrap them in pretty bags or boxes with a ribbon as a small gift!
